Strictly 2025 – Pre-series Polls!

In rides Death on her pale horse.

Can I interest you in a stat?

So this year I will be recapping Strictly, HOWEVER! There will be a format change – due to a change in personal circumstances (tone indicator: positive) I just don’t have the time to dedicate to writing a recap for Strictly in my usual format of each routine getting a separate section. So the recap will be a more general recap and discussion of the show with the usual screenshots and gifing. I am hoping that this at least allows me to keep up a more regular posting schedule and also prevents complete burnout by Week 4 when I’m trying to have squeeze content out of a third themeless foxtrot.

Part of the change of format is an introduction of Polls! We all love a statistic! So I’ve got a Pre-Launch Poll, and then we’ll repeat it once we’ve got our pairings just to see if pro-allegiance matters. Other polls in the future will be asking for the favourite and least favourite routines of contestants once they’re eliminated, their best outfits (their worst outfits?), their strongest Safety Sex FaceTM of Monkseal Trading Incorporated and then every Saturday night I will be running polls to find out where your 3 free online votes went – I’m not sure I will make a separate post for it every Saturday night, or if I should just share it on my socials (Bluesky and Instagram) because really it’s just for fun.
Then at the end of the series we’ll do a big run off to see the top three of each category reminiscent of the The Monkies that Monkseal used to do on his blog. I am not going to pretend that this is a completely original idea or format.

I am having to do them as Google Forms because WordPress wanted me to pay an additional £25 a month on top of my current subscription for the privilege so Google Forms (ugly) are my best option (free). Also the absence of Thomas Skinner on the polls is completely intentional, I will not entertain what I fully suspect is an attempt to leverage the platform afforded by the show into a politics career that I find deeply repugnant. xoxo

and I shall hopefully see you when this all starts for real!

So pleased you’re recapping Strictly Ariadne and things sound positive for you 🙂 Whatever changes you need to make to keep it sustainable for you are fine by me!

This may be the first line up where I’ve known less than half the contestants, and even then some of these links are tenuous (things like “I think I know a guy who likes Clarkey” and “I know Dani is Danny’s daughter and I barely even know HIM”). It’s a close call for who I want to root for between Paul Robinson and River Song but I feel like Stefan might need this right now and he’s also considerably less likely to win. He’d be a perfect fit for the classic “person who’s not great at dancing but people love them so they’ll keep them in for a laugh” role, although Thomas is another good contender.

Okay follow up: I didn’t know Thomas was that kind of twat, probably could have put 2 and 2 together earlier but I didn’t like him enough to give him a Google. Amateur mistake really. Hoping he goes out early because lets face it, there’s like a 0.005 percent chance he’ll be any good on this, but the general British public is an enigma sometimes. Half of me wants to vote for whoever looks most in danger other than him but the other half really doesn’t want to give the BBC more money…
